Maya

When she realised her father’s dream of topping her postgraduate psychology class, Maya could have never imagined that life was about to take such a dramatic turn.
With a Masters in Psychology under her belt, and dreams of becoming a child psychologist, she was heading to the USA to do her PhD when fate intervened in the form of her friend Nyla. Nyla had just been offered a job on a new radio station in Dubai, and muttered to Maya those immortal words, “Why don’t you try for it too?”.
So she did and Maya has been living happily in Dubai since 2004.
“I love the freedom here. In India I had a 10pm curfew, here I live in my own apartment and drive my own car. I’m completely independent and I love it.”
A music fanatic, Maya’s celebrity idol is Shabana Azmi, she dreams of owning a four-bedroom villa and if she was an animal, she’d be a cat 'because cats like to be pampered but at the same time like to have space for themselves.'
Her life motto? “In life it’s not where you are that is important, but who you are and what you do.”
