Arab Reading Challenge winners to be crowned in Dubai

The winners of the seventh edition of the Arab Reading Challenge will be announced on October 31 at Dubai Opera.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will honour the Arab Reading Champion, alongside the winner of the newly introduced ‘People of Determination’ category.

The ‘Best School’, ‘Outstanding Supervisor’ and ‘Community Champion’ will also be announced.

The participating delegations from 46 countries arrived in Dubai on Saturday.

They were welcomed at Dubai International Airport with a special entry stamp that features the Arab Reading Challenge logo to celebrate the occasion.

As many as 24.8 million students from 46 countries took part in this year’s challenge, which offers prizes worth AED 11 million.

The Arab Reading Champion will be awarded AED 500,000 while the winner in the 'People of Determination' category will take home AED 200,000.

Three schools have qualified for the finals of the 'Best School' category which carries a prize of AED 1 million, while 149,826 reading supervisors are vying for the AED 300,000 'Outstanding Supervisor' award.

The 'Community Champion' will be announced out of Arab students living in 26 foreign countries. The winner will walk away with a AED 100,000 prize.
