Restaurants in Abu Dhabi will have to ensure safety guidelines are in place, before they can restart operations.

In a series of Tweets, the Abu Dhabi Media Office explained that outlets will be given approval to reopen only after inspectors from the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) verify compliance of the new rules.

They also listed out a series of steps that restaurant owners must maintain to ensure a safe dining experience for their customers.

All staff must undergo COVID-19 tests before the reopening, and also have their temperature checked at regular intervals during operational hours.

Only four people can be seated at a table, with distance between each table not less than 2.5 metres. All staff and diners must wear masks and gloves, with hand sanitizers, thermal scanners and social distancing stickers at the outlets.
