Dubai Municipality has intensified inspections at educational institutions to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
The checks are being carried out in schools, kindergartens and nurseries in preparation for the new academic year.
Over 700 laboratory tests have been conducted to ensure the safety and conformity of drinking water, swimming pools, food containers and uniforms.
The inspections also focused on the safety of buildings and the maintenance of water, air conditioning and ventilation systems.
The municipality has a number of programms and initiatives in place to raise awareness, such as the 'Health and Safety Ambassadors' programme for schools, where representatives offer advice on protocols for handling violations and emergencies, and the use of technologies to monitor pollutants.
Other initiatives included the 'School Food Safety Champion' aimed at educating students on the importance of a healthy diet, which included a series of workshops to promote healthy eating practices and reduce food waste within educational institutions.
