The UAE is holding a three-month awareness campaign to familiarise the public with the country's labour laws, residency rules and tourist visas.

Run in collaboration with Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP), it will touch upon the legal rights of workers and the various visas that the country offers.

The aim is to "regulate and enhance the competitiveness and flexibility of the labour market," and encourage compliance with the law.

Major General Suhail Al Khaili, Director-General of the ICP, added that the campaign "focuses on violations related to tourist visas, work visas, employment seekers’ visas, termination of employment, illegal residencies, and visa entry violations".

It's aimed to "regulate and enhance the competitiveness and flexibility of the labour market," explained Khalil Al Khoori, Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at MoHRE, adding that it will encourage workers to "comply with the laws" thus "guaranteeing the rights of both parties in the employment sector".

It will run in four languages - Arabic, English, Urdu and Swahili- across various social media platforms, radio and television channels and newspapers.

Various government entities, along with free zones across the country and media outlets, will take part in the campaign.
