UAE sends 3 tonnes of meningitis, flu vaccines to Libya

WAM

The UAE has sent 90,000 doses of meningitis and influenza vaccines to Libya's Derna on Friday to help victims of Storm Daniel.

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) announced that the vaccines will be enough to treat 30,000 people.

The ERC team has teamed up with Libyan authorities to ensure the vaccines are properly stored and refrigerated at 8 degrees Celsius while it's transferred from Benghazi International Airport to Derna.

The vaccines will boost community immunity and provide greater protection for the elderly and people with chronic diseases.

It's part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support those affected by Storm Daniel, which caused widespread damage in the city and left many people dead or missing.
