UAE participates in World Games 2022

The 11th edition of the World Games is hosted by Birmingham, Alabama from 7 to 17 July, with the participation of 3,600 athletes from 100 countries from all over the world competing in 36 sports.

At the opening ceremony held at the World Games Stadium in Birmingham, our national sports team carried the UAE flag.

The ceremony lasted for 3 hours, during which artistic performances, lyrical and other cultural performances related to the host city were presented.

The UAE is participating in the tournament with 13 male and female players in 4 games, namely jiu-jitsu, in which we are represented by Faisal Al Ketbi (85 kg), Mohammed Al Suwaidi (69 kg), Muhammad Al-Omari (77 kg), Shamma Al Kalbani (63 kg), and Balqis Abdul Karim (48 kg). In Muay Thai, Nour El Din Samir weighs 63.5 kg, Muhammad Mardi weighs 67 kg, Amin Al Moatasem weighs 71 kg, and Elias Habib weighs 81 kg.

Saud Al Zaabi and Faris Al Zaabi will participate in the Duathlon competition, while Abdul Bari Al Qubaisi and Cornelia Mihai will compete in the parachute jump competition in air sports.

The UAE delegation participating in the activities of the session is headed by Engineer Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the National Olympic Committee, as our national sports team begins our participation in the 3-day event on Saturday at the Birmingham Motor Circuit.

The UAE has achieved four medals in previous World Games and is currently ranked in 66th place.
