Emirates launches contactless airport experience at DXB

Emirates' Airlines has launched an integrated biometric path at Dubai International Airport to offer passengers a contactless travel experience.

The path will offer passengers fewer document checks and reduce face-to-face interaction with airline staff, in a bid to offer more protection as the world combats the spread of coronavirus.

Utilising the latest biometric technology – a mix of facial and iris recognition, Emirates passengers travelling from and through Dubai, can check-in, use the lounge and complete immigration formalities seamlessly.

The touchpoints are currently installed at select First, Business and Economy Class check-in desks in Terminal 3; immigration gates including a “smart tunnel”; Emirates’ premium lounge entrance at concourse B as well as select boarding gates.

"Now, it is more vital than before to make use of technology and implement products and introduce processes that focus not only on fast-tracking customers but more importantly on health and safety during their travel journey," Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer said.

Of late, the UAE carrier has introduced a number of new initiatives - including COVID-19 travel insurance, self-check-ins and bag drop kiosks at DXB - for a smoother travel experience.
