WAM

The UAE and Thailand have concluded negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), after non-oil trade between the two countries reached $12.3 billion (AED 45.17 billion) in 2025.

The announcement was made in Bangkok during a meeting between UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

The agreement is expected to accelerate trade in sectors including advanced manufacturing, logistics, food security, digital trade, renewable energy and precious metals.

Non-oil trade between the two countries reached $12.3 billion (AED 45.17 billion) in 2025, up 65.2 per cent on the previous year. It rose another 75.4 per cent to $10.2 billion (AED 37.4 billion) in the first half of 2026.

"Thailand is one of the most dynamic and diversified economies in the region, and this agreement will open new avenues for companies, investors and entrepreneurs in both countries," said Al Zeyoudi.

Both sides will now finalise the legal and technical steps needed to sign the deal and bring it into force.
