Anne Hathaway appointed UN Women Goodwill Ambassador

Anne Hathaway has been appointed a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. The 'Devil Wears Prada' star feels "honoured and inspired" to be named as an ambassador to fight for women's rights across the world. She said: "I feel honoured and inspired by this opportunity to aid in advancing gender equality. Significant progress has already been made but it is time that we collectively intensify our efforts and ensure that true equality is finally realised." Whilst UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka added: "The appointment of Anne is timely because this year UN Women is driving hard to foster more positive mindsets and practical arrangements around workplaces that build and support equality for women. "Stereotypes that make it hard for fathers to take time away from work to care for a child are outdated leftovers from the 'male breadwinner' model and have no place in today's mixed workforce." Meanwhile, the 33-year-old actress is busy bringing up her two-month-old son Jonathan - who she has with husband Adam Shulman - and is reportedly "enjoying every second" of it. A source said: "Anne is just enjoying every second with her baby boy. They are loving every minute being new parents. He is such a sweet and happy baby. He looks like a mixture between Anne and Adam. Adam has been such a great husband and really supportive to Anne. "They have many friends and family coming in and out of their home in LA this past two weeks. Anne and Adam's parents have been very helpful with the baby. Anne plans on breastfeeding and wants to experience and feel everything about being a new mother. The new parents have been taking turns taking care of their son during the nights."
