Emma Stone to play Cruella de Vil?

Emma Stone is in talks to play Cruella de Vil. The 27-year-old actress is reportedly being considered for the role of the villainess from Disney's '101 Dalmations' in the new movie, 'Cruella'. The live-action film will be an origin story of Cruella, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and will likely show viewers what caused her to become the terrifying character who becomes obsessed with obtaining the hides of dalmations in the beloved story. Kelly Marcel is writing the script and although no director is attached yet, it is believed to be "a priority" for Disney, who hope to shoot next year. Cruella is the latest cartoon character to get her own origin story. A new take on Tinker Bell - with Reese Witherspoon - is set to "play with the idea and timeline of the well-known Peter Pan narrative," and will take the angle of telling "the story you don't know", just like 'Maleficent' did with Angelina Jolie. Disney has previously announced upcoming remakes of 'Dumbo', 'Mulan', 'Pinocchio' and 'The Little Mermaid', as well as the cast for a remake of 'Beauty and the Beast', including Emma Watson, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson, with the film scheduled to open in March 2017.
