Leonardo DiCaprio and Eddie Redmayne to battle it out at Screen Actors Guild Awards

Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Eddie Redmayne and Cate Blanchett have been nominated for a gong at the forthcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAGs). DiCaprio, 41, has scored a nod for his performance in 'The Revenant' but could miss out on the Best Male Actor prize as he goes head-to-head against The Danish Girl's Eddie Redmayne, 33, and 'Black Mass' star Johnny Depp. Cate, 46, has nabbed herself a Best Actress nomination for her impressive lead role in 'Carol', but will have to fight off stiff competition from Dame Helen Mirren, up for her turn in 'Women in Gold'. And that's not the only nod Mirren, 70, has tucked under her belt as she's also been put forward for Best Supporting Actress for her impressive portrayal of Hedda Hopper in biographical drama film 'Trumbo'. Winslet, 40, has also managed to land a spot in the same category for her supporting role of Joanna Hoffman in 'Steve Jobs,' as has Rachel McAdams ('Spotlight'), Alicia Vikande ('The Danish Girl') and Rooney Mara ('Carol'). Meanwhile, 'Downton Abbey' will go head-to-head with 'Game of Thrones,' 'Homeland,' 'House of Cards' and 'Mad Men' for the Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble in a Drama Series category. The nominees for the SAGs were announced on Wednesday (09.12.15) by Anna Faris and Anthony Mackie. The annual event recognises and honours the best film and television performances of the past year. The 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will air live on January 30 from Los Angeles on TNT and TBS.
