Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority said on Sunday morning that an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday has killed 12 people and left 309 others injured.
In a statement from the General Authority of Civil Aviation, it clarified that among the fatalities were four Saudi citizens, two residents from Bangladesh, one American, one Egyptian, one Jordanian, one Syrian, one Palestinian and one Sudanese.
Among the 309 injured, there are those who are in critical condition who are receiving medical care at several hospitals in Saudi Arabia, while the attack also caused property damage at King Khalid International airport, where operations at the airport have temporarily been suspended.
In a separate statement from official spokesperson of the Saudi-led Coalition, Major General Turki Al-Malki claimed the attack was from Yemen's Houthis group, and that it "constitutes a full-fledged war crime according to the Customary International Humanitarian Law", and that the coalition will respond decisively.
Al-Malki added that a projectile also fell in the vicinity of King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, while a drone was intercepted and destroyed in Eastern Region.
Etihad Airways announced on Saturday more flights between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh have been cancelled until October 12 due to an "operational disruption" at Riyadh airport.
The UAE national carrier earlier shared that eight flights had been affected by a disruption at Riyadh's airport following Houthi attacks on the facility.
The airport had been targeted twice earlier this week, including an attack that killed three people on Friday.
