Roofs of several buildings were ripped off, trees uprooted and powerlines toppled in northern Alabama and Louisiana, with the local weather bureau forecasting more rain on Tuesday.
The storm will push into southeastern Georgia, Florida and the Carolina during the early hours of Tuesday.
