Around 41,000 items were confiscated from travellers going through Dubai airports in just two months.
Goods that were seized from passenger's hand luggage include the likes of lighters, needles, scissors and liquids.
The figures, which relate to July and August of last year, have been released as part of a campaign by Dubai Police to speed up the time it takes to get through security.
Officials say that an increased awareness of which items are and aren't allowed to be part of people's carry on would help to reduce delays.
The campaign is set to focus on travellers from Bangladesh, India, the Philippines and Pakistan, as officials say that the majority of people carrying prohibited goods are from those nations.
