The Abu Dhabi Commercial Court has issued a decisive ruling to halt the unauthorised use of a globally recognised fashion and e-commerce trademark by a local store.
The case began after the trademark owner filed a lawsuit against a store that had used the brand’s name and logo across its products, storefront and online platforms — misleading customers into believing it was affiliated with the original company, which operates exclusively online.
After hearings across various judicial levels, the court ruled in favour of the trademark owner, ordering the immediate stop of all infringing activity.
This includes removing the fake trade name from official records and all commercial registries across the UAE, banning its use on social media or in stores, and taking down all related signage and promotional material.
The ruling was upheld on appeal and confirmed by the Court of Cassation, making it final and enforceable across the UAE.
Legal experts say the decision strengthens investor confidence and signals the country’s zero-tolerance stance on intellectual property violations.
