Abu Dhabi Police have warned parents to step up efforts to protect their children from bullying online.
They said a number of students have set up virtual groups on Whatsapp and social media platforms with the intention of helping them with remote learning.
But these groups have also been used to attack fellow students, sometimes with the use of verbal violence and indecent words, as parents fail to monitor their online activity.
Authorities are calling on parents to always be vigilant and look out for signs of bullying, extortion and abuse.
Abu Dhabi Police say they’re doing their part through educational programmes and by providing support for victims of bullying.
