The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) has teamed up with the ride-hailing service Yango to launch a new taxi booking service.
This latest partnership aims to boost public transport in the emirate by offering more efficient and advanced services via the Yango app.
Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, said that the initiative connects public and private taxis, along with licensed private vehicles, through a secure electronic platform. He added that it aligns with Abu Dhabi’s goal to cut its carbon footprint by enhancing the efficiency of its transport systems.
During the trial phase, the Yango app facilitated more than 8,000 trips in the past five months through 300 taxis operating in Abu Dhabi.
The app, which supports Arabic and English languages, now features over 1,500 registered taxis.
The service also includes a secure system for handling lost items, with drivers encouraged to return lost belongings to their owners or to the nearest police station. Drivers must document these items and report them to Abu Dhabi Mobility when required.
