Al Jalila Foundation is moving closer to its target of raising AED 750 million to establish the UAE's first cancer charity hospital.
AED 330 million have been raised so far to set up the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital.
The latest donor was Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), which pledged AED 30 million.
The donations have come from a number of philanthropists, businesses, government and non-government organisations in less than four months since the announcement of the new hospital, named after the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The 250-bed facility, spread over an area of 50,000 square metres will be built in two phases.
Phase 1 is expected to open at the end of 2023 with 150 beds and the capacity to treat 30,000 patients a year.
The hospital will provide best-in-class outpatient, ambulatory and diagnostic services as well as inpatient and surgical services.
