A motorcyclist has run into trouble for performing stunts on public roads in Dubai.
The man was tracked down by Dubai Police shortly after a video of his stunts went viral on social media platforms.
"The video captured a motorcyclist engaging in dangerous behaviour, riding amidst vehicles and performing stunts on one wheel, putting their safety and that of other road users at serious risk," said Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic.
The motorcycle has been impounded and the biker has been fined AED 50,000 and docked 23 black points.
Maj. Gen. Al Mazroui said motorcyclists were involved in as many as 22,115 violations over the past seven months, while 858 motorcycles were confiscated.
He issued a stern warning to reckless riders, emphasising a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals who put their own lives or the lives of others at risk.
The official also called on the public to promptly report reckless drivers or violations by contacting 901 or via the Dubai Police app.
