A five-year-old child fell out of a moving vehicle and sustained "moderate injuries," Dubai Police said.
The child was in the vehicle when his mother mistakenly opened a door, causing him to fall out while the car was moving at a low speed, according to the authority.
Further details surrounding the circumstances of the incident were not revealed.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, urged drivers and parents to secure children in age-appropriate safety seats, ensuring that their belts are fastened. He also advised against placing children in front seats.
“Monitoring windows is vital to prevent children from opening or leaning out. Additionally, children should never be left alone in cars, particularly in hot weather, as this can pose serious suffocation risks,” he added.
