Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the second phase of a major project to upgrade waiting areas at marine transport stations.

This phase enhances facilities across five key locations: Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Fahidi, Bluewaters, Baniyas and Al Seef.

The upgrades introduce designs inspired by the emirate’s maritime heritage, blending cultural identity with modern urban needs.

The improvements aim to support passengers’ comfort and wellbeing, with better spatial planning, increased safety measures, and more user-friendly environments.

Phase Two builds on the success of Phase One, completed last year, which upgraded five stations in the Dubai Marina area and achieved high customer satisfaction ratings.

Khalaf Belghuzooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at the RTA’s Public Transport Agency, says the stations selected for this phase were chosen based on customer feedback.

Enhancements include air conditioning, additional seating, expanded waiting areas, and improved access for senior citizens and women.

Passengers will also benefit from free Wi-Fi, public address systems, and real-time travel information displays, helping to create a more efficient and comfortable journey.

Al Zarooni added that all stations meet strict safety and security standards, with surveillance systems and fire alarms in place to ensure passenger safety.

He also highlighted that the designs comply with Dubai’s Universal Design Code for People of Determination, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all users.
