Dubai Police have foiled an attempt to steal and smuggle luxury cars out of the country using fake licence plates.
The authority used artificial intelligence technologies to arrest the four suspects as they were trying to steal a Lamborghini worth AED 1.3 million.
Officials said the gang members came to the UAE specifically to commit the crime.
They raided the group's hideout after several days of monitoring.
"All suspects hold the same Eastern European nationality. They used a residential place in a luxury area as a criminal base for their plot," said Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jalaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Dubai Police.
"Our teams professionally took down the four suspects and seized some forged car plates and forging tools at their residence," added Colonel Adel Al-Joker, Acting Director of CID.
