Dubai Police handled almost 50,000 calls over the Eid Al Fitr holiday with the vast majority of those going to the emergency 999 number.
The Command and Control Centre recorded a total of 49,929 phone calls from April 21-23, with 48,227 directed to the emergency hotline (999), and the remaining 1,702 calls made to the call centre (901).
The command centre also dealt with 382 emails and 858 messages on its Live chat service through its website.
Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhairi, the Director of the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations in Dubai Police, reminded the public to keep the 999 number clear to use in critical situations only, directing non-emergency calls and inquiries to the 901 number.
