Dubai Police have made significant strides in the fight against international drug trafficking, aiding in the arrest of 308 suspects worldwide in 2023.
Through its General Department of Anti-Narcotics, the force provided 372 drug-related dossiers to 44 countries, leading to the seizure of over 2 tonnes of narcotics, including Khat, cocaine, marijuana, and heroin, as well as nearly 8 million narcotic pills.
In addition to drug seizures, Dubai Police also identified and blocked more than 1,900 online accounts linked to drug dealers on social media platforms.
Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commandant for Criminal Investigation Affairs, emphasized the success of these efforts, noting the role of advanced technologies and international cooperation in combatting drug trafficking.
Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza, Acting Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, highlighted Dubai Police's global efforts over the past five years, sharing crucial information with 66 countries, leading to the seizure of nearly 30 tonnes of narcotics and the arrest of 550 suspects.
Locally, Dubai Police continue to combat drug trafficking with specialized teams focused on protecting the community. Recent efforts, like Operation "Storm," resulted in the seizure of over 13 tonnes of Captagon pills.
In addition to enforcement, the Dubai Police Hemaya International Centre launched 333 awareness campaigns in 2023, reaching over 13 million students and members of the public to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs.
