Dubai’s taxi sector achieved a growth rate of 27 per cent during the first half of this year compared to the same period in 2021.
It represents a 101 per cent recovery rate from pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
The growth rate registered by the sector is also the highest in six years.
Hala Taxi journeys surged during the first half of 2022 by 157 per cent compared to the same period last year while the e-hail business recovered 92 per cent of its volumes in 2019 as the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic significantly receded.
"E-hail journeys surged by 74% during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year. The hourly car rental sector also recovered by 56% with journeys recording a 6% increase during the first six months of 2022," said Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Roads and Transport Authority's (RTA) Public Transport Agency.
