More than 45,200 fines were handed out to motorists in Abu Dhabi in 2021 for not leaving an adequate safe distance.
Violators were fined AED 400 and slapped with four black points.
Abu Dhabi Police are once again reminding drivers about the dangers of tailgating and how it can cause serious accidents.
If tailgating leads to an accident, the offender will have to pay AED 5,000 within three months to stop the vehicle from being impounded and placed for auction.
