Paid public parking will be introduced across Al Dhaid City in Sharjah, starting January 1, 2025.
This initiative is aimed at reducing parking misuse, supporting the emirate's growing tourism and investment sectors, and providing a more efficient parking experience for residents, visitors and business owners.
Motorists will have to feed the meters from 8 AM to 10 PM, with Fridays remaining free, except in designated zones marked with blue guidance boards. These zones will feature clear signage indicating payment timings.
A total of 1,900 parking spaces will be designated as paid zones, supported by 19 payment kiosks, 7 large signage boards, and 161 smaller directional signs.
Payment options include coin-operated machines, SMS services, the Sharjah Digital app, the Mawaqif app, and prepaid cards.
To ensure compliance, advanced digital monitoring vehicles will carry out inspections.
A joint task force from Sharjah and Al Dhaid municipalities is overseeing the project, which includes detailed planning, feasibility studies, and a public communication campaign.
