The ruler of Dubai has purchased 60 tonnes of personal protective equipment (PPE) to donate to the United Kingdom.
According to a tweet by the Dubai Media Office, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai aims to support the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) in combating COVID-19.
The announcement revealed that the first aircraft carrying urgent aid has arrived in London from China.
The medical supplies include face masks, protective clothing and other essential items required to protect frontline workers who are combatting the pandemic and treating coronavirus patients.
The gesture reflects the UAE's keenness to support international efforts to contain the outbreak.
