Within a month Sharjah will unveil a field hospital in Al Zahia area to treat COVID-19 emergencies.
Making the announcement, Major-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police and head of the local emergency and crisis team, said the decision has been made in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap).
"Work on the hospital will start tomorrow... (and) is expected to be completed in one month," he said, adding that the facility will treat critical COVID-19 cases.
It will accept patients from across the country.
The move, he stressed, is in line with the efforts of the UAE government to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
