Submissions open for 'Ibda’a – Arab Youth Media Award'

Dubai Media Office

The Dubai Press Club has announced the opening of submissions for the ninth edition of the 'Ibda’a – Arab Youth Media Award.'

Originally launched in 2001 as the Ibda’a Media Student Awards by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the revamped award aims to continue its mission of discovering and recognizing young media talent across the Arab world.

This year’s edition reflects significant advancements in the media industry and features six categories: Podcasting, E-Games, Multimedia, Photography, Short Video, and News Reports.

The award is open to media students across the Arab world. Submissions can be made individually or as group projects through universities or directly by students, with an official letter from the academic institution confirming eligibility.

The Organising Committee has already reached out to universities and media faculties across the region, encouraging students to begin preparing their projects for submission. Entries can be submitted via the official website.

Winners will be celebrated at a special ceremony during the Arab Youth Media Forum. A panel of experts and specialists in the media field will evaluate submissions, with clear criteria in place to ensure fairness throughout the judging process.

Each category winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000.

Submissions must be original, free from promotional content, and can be in either Arabic or English. Participants must affirm ownership of their intellectual property, with the Organising Committee reserving the right to use submitted entries for promotional purposes.

By providing a platform for young talent, the award supports Dubai’s vision of becoming a global media leader and a hub for nurturing emerging talent.
