The UAE participated in a ministerial-level meeting on Gaza and its reconstruction in Cairo, alongside counterparts from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar.
The meeting also included the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) representing the State of Palestine and the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
The meeting welcomed the agreement reached for a ceasefire in Gaza and the exchange of hostages and detainees. It praised the efforts made by Egypt and Qatar in this regard and acknowledged the significant role of the United States in reaching the agreement.
The officials said a reformed Palestinian Authority should assume responsibility in the enclave, joining the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The meeting highlighted the importance of international efforts to implement a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza as soon as possible, ensuring that Palestinians remain on their land, improving their living conditions, and addressing the consequences of internal displacement.
The ministers urged the UN Security Council to take concrete steps towards implementing a two-state solution in an effort to address the regional conflict at its root cause.
