Representatives from the UAE have attended the signing of a peace agreement between Sudan's government and armed groups in Juba.
The Emirati delegation was led by the Cabinet Member and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei.
Addressing the ceremony, Al Mazrouei underlined the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for the deal.
He said the accord contributes to supporting peace and brings an end to conflicts in Sudan.
Al Mazrouei also thanked the South Sudanese President, Salva Kiir Mayardit and his adviser Tut Qalwak for their contribution in forging the "historic deal".
"This is a significant and critical moment in the Sudanese people's history that brings all parties together to support the principles of peace, security and stability in a way that puts an end to the causes of conflict and infighting," the Minister said.
