The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has issued a statement expressing concern over the escalations in Lebanon and reaffirmed its position towards the country's territorial sovereignty.
"The UAE reaffirmed its unwavering position towards the unity of Lebanon, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasising the country’s steadfast support for the people of Lebanon during this challenging period. In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, has directed the delivery of an urgent $100 million relief package to the people of Lebanon," the Ministry said.
The Ministry stressed the importance of providing full protection to civilians according to international law and treaties.
The Israeli military launched a "limited" ground invasion of Lebanon on early Tuesday, reportedly to target Hezbollah sites.
Israel's ground invasion into Lebanon follows its deadly detonation of booby-trapped Hezbollah pagers, two weeks of airstrikes, and its killing on Friday of Hezbollah head Hassan Nasrallah, which dealt the group one of the heaviest blows in decades.
