The UAE has hosted a meeting between Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan and Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia, to advance the peace agenda between the two countries.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and explored ways to support efforts to build trust and promote stability in the South Caucasus region, national news agency Wam reported on Friday.
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the decision to hold the talks in the UAE highlighted the global community’s confidence in the UAE as a reliable partner in promoting peace, diplomacy and regional cooperation.
He also highlighted the importance of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding between the two countries, stressing the need to prioritise peaceful solutions and long-term cooperation.
The meeting comes after Sheikh Mohamed held separate talks with the two leaders in the UAE capital.
Sheikh Mohamed underscored the UAE’s strong bilateral ties with both countries and expressed a desire to expand partnerships that support shared interests and contribute to regional and global stability.
In March, the UAE welcomed the successful conclusion of peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
