The Arab Group met with leaders of international organisations concerned with humanitarian, relief and health affairs to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon and ways to confront the repercussions of the military escalation on the ground.
Headed by UAE’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Jamal Al-Musharakh, the Arab Group with the Troika Ambassadors and Arab Ambassadors in Geneva, met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi. The talks focused on the need for urgent action in response to the emerging crisis and its repercussions, such as the internal displacement of civilians and the increased influx of refugees.
The Arab Group also met with the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, where the need to quickly meet the needs of the brotherly Lebanese people and intensify humanitarian aid and medical supplies was emphasised.
Al-Mashrakh and the Arab ambassadors also held talks with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, during which the need for an effective role for international organisations at this critical time, especially by the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the necessity of taking measures to respect international law and international humanitarian law and provide protection for civilians, was emphasised.
