The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has confirmed that UAE markets are free of lettuce products linked to the cyclosporiasis outbreak reported in some countries.

The Ministry says it is working closely with health and regulatory authorities to monitor imported food shipments and international food safety alerts, particularly those involving lettuce from central Mexico.

It adds that food products in local markets are being checked to ensure they meet the UAE's strict food safety standards.

The public is also being advised to wash fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly and buy food only from approved retailers.
