The UAE's new education ministers have been sworn-in, in a ceremony in Abu Dhabi presided over by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
It follows the announcement made towards the end of last month of a reshuffle in the Ministry.
Sheikh Mohamed wished the three new ministers, Ahmed Al Falasi, Minister of Education, Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, and Sara Awad Issa Musallam, Minister of State for Early Education, success in developing the sector to meet the UAE's current and future development needs.
His Highness said, "Our interest in enhancing the quality of education stems from our belief in the importance of this vital sector in shaping the future, as a main source of development that provides qualified national competencies to serve the nation."
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also stressed the need for continuous development, saying "We are keen to develop government work to meet the requirements of development and we are committed to supporting our key national goals."
The UAE's Attorney-General, Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, has ordered the referral of 13 defendants and six UAE-registered companies to the Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal (State Security Court) on charges of illicit trafficking in military materiel, forgery and money laundering.
