UAE warns drivers of strict fines for unsafe driving in rainy weather

Authorities in the UAE have reminded motorists of maintaining caution during unstable weather conditions to avoid fines that can go up to AED 2,000, 23 black points and 60-day vehicle impoundment.

Drivers heading near valleys, flood zones or dams during rainfall are subject to a fine of AED 1,000 and 6 black points. 

Meanwhile, those caught driving into flooded valleys regardless of water level or degree of danger are subject to AED 2,000 in fines, 23 black points and 60 days of vehicle impoundment.

The authority also added that any drivers who obstruct and prevent relevant authorities from carrying out traffic or emergency operations during crises, disasters and rainfall could receive a fine of AED 1,000, 4 black points and 60 days of vehicle impoundment.

The public is urged to follow safety guidelines, with unstable weather conditions expected across the country until Friday, March 27.
