Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the completion of 13 bridges that lead to the Dubai Hills Mall project.
The new bridges, which extend 3,700 metres in length and 11-22 metres in width, will help ease traffic flow in the area with a combined capacity of 23,500 vehicles per hour.
The RTA opened the main bridge on Umm Suqeim Street on Saturday, with the other bridges scheduled to open when the mall does.
Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, said the new bridges "will provide direct entry and exit points for the area from and to Al Khail Road and Umm Suqeim Street".
It will provide "three entry points to those coming from Deira, Umm Suqeim and Jebel Ali as well as direct exit points to Al Khail Road and Umm Suqeim Street".
He added that the "improvements will slash the transit time on Umm Suqeim Street in the sector between Mohammed bin Zayed and Al Khail Roads from 18 to 7 minutes".
