Barcelona have moved closer to their 26th La Liga title after beating Deportivo Alaves 2-0 on Tuesday.

A fine strike from Carles Alena and a penalty from Luis Suarez in a span of six second-half minutes earned all three points for Barca.

The Catalan club will be crowned champions if second-placed Atletico Madrid lose against Valencia on Wednesday or to Real Valladolid on Saturday.

Otherwise, Barca will have to wait for their match against Levante at the weekend.

In the other games played on Tuesday, Valladolid registered a 1-0 home win against Girona to take a big step towards escaping relegation, while Huesca left the bottom of the table by beating Eibar 2-0 at home.
