A senior South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) official has announced that its seven members will vote for Michel Platini in next year's FIFA presidential elections. The French former football player’s public opposition to FIFA’s current president, Sepp Blatter grew after he went back on a 2011 promise to stand aside at this year's election. Amid escalating corruption investigations, Blatter won a fifth term on May 29, but quit four days later. Meanwhile, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) chief Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has already backed Platini as his preferred candidate for football’s top job. Elections take place on February 26.
