European heavyweights Spain and Italy have started their Euro 2020 qualifiers on a winning note.

A penalty from captain Sergio Ramos proved the difference in Spain’s 2-1 win over Norway, while first international goals for Nicolò Barella and Moise Kean saw Italy outclass Finland 2-0.

Elsewhere, Malta edged Faroe Islands 2-1 to end their 30-game, 12-year wait for a Euro qualifying win, while striker Edin Dzeko celebrated his 100th appearance in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 2-1 win over Armenia.

In other games, Sweden overcame Romania 2-1, Greece beat Lichtenstein 2-0, Ireland registered a 1-0 win at Gibraltar, while Switzerland defeated Georgia 2-0.
