Liverpool beat Palace thanks to injury time penalty

Jurgen Klopp congratulates Christian Benteke

A stoppage time penalty from Christian Benteke gave Liverpool a dramatic win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League last night. With the scores level at 1-1, Benteke went down following a challenge from Damien Delaney and slotted home the resulting penalty with seconds remaining. Palace took the lead through Joe Ledley but Roberto Firminio equalised following a mistake by keeper Alex McCarthy. Liverpool finished the game with 10-men after a second yellow for James Milner, but Palace weren’t able to take advantage and paid the price in stoppage time. Palace boss Alan Pardew felt the decision was a harsh one and denied his team a point.
