West Indies take 1-0 lead against Afghanistan

West Indies have cruised to a seven-wicket win in the first of three One Day Internationals against Afghanistan.

The Caribbean side reached their target of 195 with 21 balls remaining.

Shai Hope (77 not out) and Roston Chase (94) struck half-centuries as they put on a crucial 163-run stand for the third wicket.

Afghanistan were earlier dismissed for 194 in 45.2 overs, with Rahmat Shah (61) and Ikram Alikhil (58) scoring the bulk of the runs.

Chase starred with the ball (2-31) alongside debutant Romario Shepherd (2-32) and fellow fast bowler Jason Holder (2-21).

The Indian city of Lucknow is hosting the series, which also includes three Twenty20 Internationals.
