AED 50,000 up for grabs in Global Village photo contest

Global Village has launched the '50 Years of Togetherness' photography contest to mark UAE's 50th National Day.

"Designed to create a collection of photographs exploring shared identities and values through the lens of individuals with a unique vision of cultural diversity," the contest will let the winner take home AED 50,000 and a gold trophy.

Partnering with Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA), the contest is open to amateur and professional photographers, who are aged 18 and above.

It'll be marked under three themes – multiculturalism, inclusion and openmindedness.

Participants must apply for a permit via the Global Village website before uploading their entries on the HIPA site.

"50 Years of Togetherness celebrates the strength and beauty of the UAE’s inclusive spirit, where modern living, prosperity and technological innovation are born from cultural harmony and creativity," highlighted Bader Anwahi, CEO at Global Village.

"The jury will be looking for exceptional images and a strong narrative illustrating the wonder that is created when different cultures join together as one."

The second prize winner, the organisers added, will walk away with AED 26,000, a silver trophy and a Global Village goodie bag.

The third-prize winner will be awarded AED 26,000 and a glass trophy, while the top 10 runner-ups will get Global Village Experience Packs, including entry tickets and Wonder Pass cards.

All submissions will be accepted until December 2, with the winners announced on January 4.

Meanwhile, under-18 photographers will have a social media contest under the "50 years of togetherness" theme. All photographs must be uploaded on Instagram with the hashtags #GVWOW and #Together between November 3-30, with the winners announced on December 2.
