Commuters using taxis in Dubai will now have to pay an additional 5%. Fares have been increased across the emirate with regular rides now costing an additional 11 fils per kilometre, while airport cabs charge an extra 21 fils per kilometre. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) says the hike is marginal and is part of its endeavors to improve services. This is the second increase in the past 12 months. Last December the flag-down rate was increased from AED 3 to AED 5 and the minimum fare was raised from AED 10 to AED 12.
