RTA says public transport, taxi use hits nearly 350 million in 2026

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that 348.1 million people used public transport, taxis and shared mobility in Dubai in the first half of 2026.

The figure includes users of Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses and marine transport, as well as taxis and shared mobility services, including vehicles operated by smart app companies, hourly rental vehicles and on-demand buses.

Within that total, Dubai Metro has hit 136.5 million passengers, Dubai Tram has recorded 3.8 million passengers, taxis have had 88.9 million passengers, public buses have carried 85.1 million passengers and 8.1 million passengers have used marine transport services.

Meanwhile, shared mobility services have had 25.7 million passengers.

The average number of passengers per day using all these services has hit around 1.9 million, while the busiest recorded month was January with 73.4 million passengers. After that, monthly use ranged between 66 million and 49 million. 

During the same period, luxury transport vehicles (limousines) carried 5.7 million passengers.
