The UAE wants to accelerate the development, production and equitable access to COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccines as the global scene recoils from the impact of the virus.

The UAE participated in the virtual meeting for foreign ministers from around the globe to discuss the latest developments regarding COVID-19.

Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, the Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, represented UAE in the meeting.

The official reiterated the UAE’s offer to produce and distribute vaccines as part of the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) initiative in partnership with UNICEF.

Supplies, on behalf of the COVAX Facility, can be routed through Dubai’s International Humanitarian City.

Dr. Gargash also said that the UAE believes in the right of every individual to obtain COVID vaccines without any discrimination and underscored the need to accelerate global recovery in a sustainable manner with international cooperation.

“The pandemic has doubled down on the interdependence of states and the benefits of joint action, as global health security hinges on ensuring the social welfare of all societies,” said Dr. Gargash.

The meeting discussed several topics related to the equitable distribution of vaccines, capacity-building, critical decision-making, and the pandemic's repercussions.
