The UAE must guard itself against the emergence of a new era of digital warfare and the misuse of electronic information, a panel of experts has said. The comments were made at the Emirati Media Forum, which addresses activities of the UAE media. His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Sooud Al Qassimi, a commentator on Arab affairs, said the spread of social media and multiple digital channels has given rise to 'digital warfare', where online groups engage in spreading information to defame countries. Sheikh Sultan stressed the importance of education in addressing electronic attacks, strengthening the internal response and the need to monitor reports that target the UAE.
